| This very well may be THE VERY BEST entry I have ever read in my entire xanga career. Thanks to my sister, I'm able to share her thoughts on this with my uneducated friends who don't do enough research about good subjects.
I have done massive research on beards which anyone who so desires can do in practically any library in the world. But for those too lazy to go to the library, I will say briefly that I am deeply convinced that beards play a very important role in the dissemination of advanced ideas and doctrine, and in winning minds. I think that Marxism would never have been able to win over the masses if Marx had shaved at some point, even if had been forced to do so. Lenin, Castro, and Khomeini could not have produced revolutions if they'd been clean shaven. Of course, power has sometimes been seized in one country or another, and territory has been subdued by people with just moustaches and sometimes even without. But no beardless man has ever yet been known as a prophet.
It should also be printed out that there are beards, and there are beards. To stand out from the general run, the wearer of a beard must avoid any hint of imitation. He should never grow a beard that could be called Marx-like, Lenin-like, Ho-Chi-Minh-like or Tolstoy-like. Otherwise, he will not be numbered among the prophets but among their followers. This was quite clear to Sim Simych, but he did not find a perfect solution immediately. At first, he went too far and grew a beard of such length that he would step on it himself, particularly when he was in a hurry. This was both inconvenient and pointless, because the beard was too long to fit into any photograph. He had to shorten in, and from then on the typical Karnavalov beard was one that barely covered his knees.
-Vladimir Voinovich
And therefore, this page is devoted entirely to two of my favorite bearded men:

my case is closed for now, these men are great. If a man wants to make a difference, then grow a beard. amen.

| I was reading in 1st. Corinthians today. Paul was talking about how he was the planter, Apollos watered, and God grew. I was deeply pondering these 3 roles. How Paul was really the Evangelist, and Apollos was the teacher. I think that God's gifts some in evangelism, and some in disipleship. Not to say that we cannot obtain both. We can. It's just that some convictions are greater than others in different people. As Paul moves on in the story, he says 'And to us who are being saved..." I was deeply moved by Paul, how he states "BEING saved." Not merely, "ARE SAVED." but we who are "BEING SAVED." This Made me think how, there is so much more than the mere moment of salvation. Although this may be THE UTMOST important moment for a humans immortal life, how much more we need to be walking daily with the realization that we NEED to work harder. We need to be daily "saved" in a sense. Our works will one day go through fire. How important it is to come to Christ, and do his works. Because, after all it says the demons tremble at His name. I have a hard time believing they will be in heaven. So, if the demons believe in Christ, we need to really believe! Let us daily become seed planters, and waterers. | | |
